A risk profile or a gap analysis can be conducted to determine the various hazards, risks and current controls. This is the starting point for your risk management journey and will identify where there are improvements that can be made. You don’t have to have all the answers straight away, it’s all about demonstrating that you are moving forward.

The risk profile leads to the risk register. The risk register is one of the most important risk tools that you can have. It lists all the health and safety risks to your business, assesses the chance of an event happening and the consequence and the things you put in place to reduce or eliminate that risk.

It’s a good idea to also use the risk register to address all risks to your business including:
